Physical Actuation & Control
Custom DC motor actuation systems retrofit directly onto existing manual gate valves, reservoir sluice gates, pipelines, canals, and dams β transforming legacy infrastructure into smart, remotely controllable assets at a fraction of replacement cost.
What This Layer Does
The Physical Actuation & Control layer is the muscle of the IWMS platform. It converts dumb, manual water infrastructure into smart, remotely operable assets without requiring full replacement. Industrial-grade DC motors are precision-coupled to existing gate valves using custom gear mechanisms. A PLC governs each actuator, executing open/close commands in real time from the cloud or via edge logic when connectivity is lost. Fail-safe logic ensures every valve returns to a predetermined safe position during power failure.
Features & Capabilities
DC Motor Actuators
Industrial-grade DC motors with precision gear coupling, rated for continuous outdoor operation. IP67 weather-sealed enclosures for canal, reservoir, and underground valve applications.
PLC Control Logic
Programmable Logic Controllers execute open/close/partial-position commands. Fail-safe logic ensures valves return to safe positions during power or connectivity loss.
Retrofit Compatibility
Designed to mount directly onto existing IS 778 / IS 14846 / IS 8329 gate valves β no new valve procurement. Typical installation: 4β8 hours per valve.
Remote Command
Commands originate from the cloud dashboard, operator mobile app, or automated schedules. Sub-2-second execution with status confirmation.
Partial Position Control
Valves can be set to any percentage open (0β100%), enabling precise flow throttling β not just binary open/closed.
Tamper Alerts
Unauthorized manual override triggers instant supervisor alerts via reed switches and current-draw anomaly detection.
